About

About a year ago, I lost two full-time jobs in three days through no fault of my own. (The magazine I worked for was sold to a West-Coast firm, and the job I got to replace it was taken from me and given to someone who threatened to sue if she didn’t get it.) I decided the universe was telling me it was time to rethink things.

I’ve wanted to write since I was a child. I started a “novel” (lasted all of one page) when I was seven or eight, and another (lasted all of three chapters) when I was nine or ten.

So I decided that now I would work part-time just enough to cover the bills, and devote myself to writing. I’ve finished one novel that was already in progress when “job loss 2006″ hit, and am looking for an agent. I’m starting the second novel now, and outlining two plays. I’m also writing freelance for a newspaper elsewhere in the state.

What I think may make this blog valuable to other aspiring writers is that I have seven years’ experience writing and editing for a magazine, so I’ve seen some of both sides of the process. I hope you will find this both entertaining and useful.
